No. 5-seeded New College of Florida fell 4-0 to No. 4-seeded and tournament host Coastal Georgia in women's tennis action Wednesday morning in Brunswick in the quarterfinals of the Sun Conference Tournament.
In doubles,
Emilia Schulte and
Itza Rogel dropped a 6-3 decision at No. 1, while
Vanesa Streitova and
Alexandra Sibrikova fell 6-0 at No. 3 as Coastal Georgia claimed the doubles point.
Madeleine Chellas and
Camila Cardona-Carballosa were trailing 5-4 at No. 2 when play was halted.
In singles, Coastal Georgia secured the team victory with straight-set wins at No. 2, No. 5, and No. 6.
Camila Cardona-Carballosa fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2, while
Alexandra Sibrikova and
Gia Rizzo were both defeated 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and No. 6.
The remaining singles matches were left unfinished once the team result was decided.
With the loss, NCF finishes its inaugural season 5-12 overall and with a 2-5 Sun Conference record.
