NCF Beach Volleyball went 1-1 in its first day of Pool Play at the Women's Beach Volleyball National Invitational in Mesa, Arizona, Thursday.
The No. 6 seeded Mighty Banyans beat No. 2 seeded The Master's 3-2 before falling 3-2 to No. 3 seeded Corban in the evening.

New College earned a 3-2 victory over No. 2-seeded The Masters on Thursday to open pool play.
Soraya Nacero and
Camilla Vaerini picked up the first point for the Mighty Banyans at No. 4, defeating Macy Gebhards and Krista Brady in three sets, 14-21, 21-16, 15-4.
Alba Romanos Gracia and
Jayleen Santiago added another three-set victory at No. 3, defeating Addy Brock and Ashlyn Unruh 12-21, 21-18, 15-9.
With the dual tied 2-2,
Oliva Fenstermaker and
Cassidy Casey delivered the deciding point at No. 1, defeating Emma Winter and Zoe Yates 21-16, 16-21, 16-14.
The Masters picked up points at No. 2 and No. 5.
Kayla Gentry and
Jayden Ponsford fell at No. 2, while
Maria Luiza Barreis and
Mariana Saba were defeated at No. 5.
NCF vs. Corban Recap
New College fell victim to a reverse sweep against No. 3-seeded Corban Thursday evening.
Gentry and Ponsford earned a straight-set victory at No. 2, defeating Gabriela Engels and Allyson Reid 21-17, 21-18.
Nacero and Vaerini added another point at No. 4 with a 21-14, 21-16 win over Erin Scott and Emily Blagg.
Corban picked up the remaining three points. Fenstermaker and Casey fell in three sets at No. 1, 21-14, 21-23, 15-9.
Romanos Gracia and Santiago were defeated at No. 3 in three sets, 22-24, 21-18, 15-10.
At No. 5, Saba and Barreis dropped a three-set match, 21-16, 24-22, 15-8.
