No. 3 seeded and No. 23 nationally ranked New College of Florida fell 4-2 to No. 2 seeded and No. 4 nationally ranked Southeastern in the Sun Conference Tournament Semifinals on Thursday at the Marta B. Torrey Tennis Complex in Brunswick, Georgia.
In doubles, Southeastern claimed the point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2.
Pedro Lemos and
Konstantin Kukaras were defeated 6-1 at No. 1, while
Carlos Quinones and
Timothy Phung fell 6-0 at No. 2.
Patrick Janikian and
Hugo Fidler held a 5-2 lead at No. 3 when play was halted.
In singles, New College picked up two victories.
Carlos Quinones earned a three-set win at No. 2, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, and
Pedro Lemos added a straight-set 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 5.
Timothy Phung battled in a three-set match at No. 1 before falling 6-3, 1-6, 7-5.
Hugo Fidler dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 3, while
Konstantin Kukaras fell 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4.
Matteo Barcia was edged in three sets at No. 6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-5.
NCF will return home to Sarasota and await its NAIA Tournament fate during next week's selection show.
