John-Michael “JM” Plummer started as the Assistant Beach Volleyball Coach at New College of Florida in 2024, bringing elite competitive experience and nationally recognized coaching credentials to the program. A current AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals) Tour athlete, Coach Plummer is deeply committed to growing the sport of beach volleyball and mentoring the next generation of scholar-athletes.
Plummer's coaching career includes a notable role as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at Loyola Marymount University (LMU), one of the top NCAA Division I beach volleyball programs in the country. While at LMU, he helped lead the Lions to a West Coast Conference (WCC) Championship and an NCAA Championship Tournament appearance, working directly with nationally ranked pairs and All-Americans. His experience at LMU has been instrumental in shaping his training methodology, which emphasizes technical precision, strategic discipline, and high-performance team culture.
A former NCAA student-athlete himself, JM competed in indoor men’s volleyball during college, where he served as a team leader and standout Outside Hitter. He graduated in 2011 with a double major Bachelor’s degree in Communications and in Corporate Communications. He then completed his MBA in Business Administration at Lindenwood in 2012 durring his senior season. His transition to the beach game saw rapid success, leading him to earn his place on the AVP Tour, where he continues to compete against some of the top professional teams in the U.S.
Plummer is dedicated to building New College’s Beach Volleyball program into a competitive, high-character team rooted in hard work, academic excellence, and a love for the game. His leadership style centers on athlete empowerment, skill development, and fostering a championship mindset on and off the court.
