Andrew Wingreen

Andrew Wingreen was named the first head men's basketball coach in New College of Florida history on May 1, 2023.

"I am excited for the opportunity to start the program at NCF and build a foundation that can sustain success.  I believe we are set up to do something special as we join the NAIA and The Sun Conference.  We will strive every day to be lights in our community and set a standard of excellence in all aspects of our lives.  Big things are going to happen in Sarasota and I'm thrilled I get to be a part of it!"

In their first season as a member of the NAIA and The Sun Conference, Wingreen led the Mighty Banyans to a 14-15 (7-9) record, which would be good enough for fifth place in the conference.  The Banyans qualified for the Sun Conference Tournament in their first season as the #5 seed.  Wingreen proved himself as a great recruiter as the Banyans had three players receive postseason awards from the Sun Conference.  Charlie Yoder led the NAIA in scoring (24.4 PPG) and would find a spot on the First Team All-Conference, while Jordan Clark would secure a spot on the Second Team All-Conference.  Newcomer, Diego Eslava, would earn the honor of being named Freshman of the Year in the Sun Conference.

Entering his 16th season on a college sideline, Wingreen most recently served on staff at Stetson University in DeLand, Florida under head coach, Donnie Jones.  In 2020-21, Stetson participated in NCAA Division I postseason play for the first time in school history, earning an invitation to the CBI.  Stetson won its first-ever NCAA Division I postseason game, defeating Bowling Green 53-52 at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach. The Hatters rallied from 15-point second half deficit to post the historic win.  While at Stetson, Wingreen also helped the Hatters host their first ASUN Tournament game in 24 years and reached two consecutive ASUN Semifinals.

Prior to his time in DeLand, Wingreen was the head men's basketball coach at NCAA Division III, Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where they won the NEAC South Division in 2019.  The Chargers would advance to the NCCAA Midwest Region Championship game before falling to Cincinnati Christian, 75-78.

Coach Wingreen also served as an assistant coach at Bethel University (IN), helping guide the Pilots to a 22 win season and an appearance in the NAIA National Tournament. Other stops for Wingreen include Bob Jones University (2012-2017), Rockford University (2011-2012) and Northland International University (2007-2010).

Wingreen earned his Bachelor's degree from Northland International University and has a Master's degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine.

"Andrew Wingreen is a rising star in the college coaching world!  I've worked with Andrew at Stetson University where we served as assistant coaches together for the great Donnie Jones.  He's a bright, passionate, servant-leader who has the ability to connect with his players.  He's the perfect leader to build a new program and I would want him to coach my son.  He will teach the game, but more importantly he will help his players become better men, husbands, and fathers.  He will be in their lives forever."
