New College of Florida

Scott Townsend joined the New College of Florida men's basketball coaching staff in 2024 following an accomplished 21-year tenure as the head boys' basketball coach at Bradenton Christian School.

One of the most respected high school coaches in the region, Townsend compiled a 237-111 career record while leading the Panthers to sustained success. His teams earned 12 regional tournament appearances, advanced to two regional finals, and finished as the Florida state runner-up in 2016. Throughout his career, Townsend was recognized eight times as Coach of the Year, a testament to both his success on the court and the consistency of his program.

At New College, Townsend plays an integral role in recruiting, player development, scouting, and the day-to-day operations of the Mighty Banyans program. His decades of coaching experience, commitment to teaching the game, and passion for mentoring young people have made him a valuable member of the coaching staff.
