Sean Ferguson

Sean came to New College of Florida with over a decade of experience developing high-
performance training systems for athletes at every level. He currently serves as the Director of
Strength and Safety, where he developed and oversees a comprehensive strength and
conditioning department supporting more than 20 athletic teams and 300+ student-athletes.
Sean specializes in designing efficient, sport-specific training programs that maximize
performance while minimizing injury risk. His work spans program development, staff
management, athlete monitoring, and long-term athletic development, with an emphasis on
movement quality, strength progression, and durability.

Previously, Sean spent eight years as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Southern
New Hampshire University, overseeing training for all 19 varsity sports. During this time, he
designed year-round periodized programs, consulted on nutrition and supplementation, treated
athletes using advanced soft-tissue techniques, and developed internship and fellowship
programs for aspiring strength coaches. He also gained experience at the University of Florida as
an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, working with basketball, tennis, and golf
programs at the Division I level.

Sean holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management with a minor in Business and has
Master’s work in Human Performance from the University of Florida. He maintains numerous
industry certifications, including NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS),
Precision Nutrition Level 1, NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist, FRC, FMS, and RPR, among
others.

In addition to his collegiate role, Sean is the Owner and Founder of Granite Peak Performance
LLC, where he works one-on-one and online with athletes and active individuals. Through
Granite Peak Performance, he delivers customized strength training and nutrition strategies
focused on increasing strength, improving athletic performance, optimizing body composition,
reducing pain, and supporting long-term health.

Driven by a commitment to athlete safety, performance excellence, and continuous education,
Sean brings a proven, evidence-based approach to helping athletes perform at their highest level.
Sean lives in Bradenton, FL with his wife Alexia, and two children.
