JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The New College of Florida Mighty Banyans women's soccer team (1-5-1) lost a competitive match to Trinity Baptist (4-4-1) on Thursday.
The Eagles jumped to an early lead in only two minutes of action thanks to a goal by Trinity Baptist forward Ellie Mikesha.
Trinity Baptist scored again in the 10th minute, increasing their lead to two and taking control of the game.
New College continued to put pressure on the Eagles. Junior Ellie Sherman scored an unassisted goal in the 29th minute, bringing the Banyans back within one at the half.
Sherman would again leave her mark on the pitch, scoring on a powerful shot to bring the Banyans level.
Trinity Baptist took back the lead in the 78th minute on a 35-yard free kick from Tatum Wolke. The Eagles used this momentum and scored again, ultimately putting the game out of reach.
