WOMENS BASKETBALL VICTORIOUS IN FIRST HOME GAME

SARASOTA, Fla. - New College women's basketball won their first home game in program history in an 85-22 triumph over Beacon College.

The Mighty Banyans (2-2) came out the gate firing on all cylinders. 

Elenny Batista and Gracie Hampton started off the scoring from the free-throw line. 

Jadyn Lattimore sank back-to-back jumpers, bringing the Banyan's lead to nine six minutes into the action. 

The Banyans got hot in the final two minutes of the quarter. A steal by Jadyn Lattimore led to a fast break bucket by Franchesca Derilus. Lattimore hit another jump shot on the Banyan's next possession, and Elenney Batista finished off the quarter with two layups of her own, giving the Banyans a 19-2 lead. 

The Banyans continued their momentum in the second quarter. Rene Ahwal paced New College with six points in five minutes to start the quarter. Lattimore and Jackson followed their stellar first quarter with steady play, combining for nine points. Ahwal scored a layup with three seconds on the clock to extend the Banyan's lead to 30 points. 

New College duplicated their success in the second half, scoring 21 third-quarter points on 62.5% shooting from the field. 

The Banyans shot 75% in the fourth quarter, leading to the 63-point victory. 

New College had multiple standout performances on the night. Jadyn Lattimore led the way with 23 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 steals. 

Rene Ahwal added 16 points and 5 assists. 

Elenney Batista was dominant on both ends of the floor, finishing with an impressive 14 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 assists to go along with 3 steals. 

The Banyans are back in action on Monday, Nov. 6, when they travel to Lake Wales to face off with Warner University (VR).
