NEW COLLEGE OFFENSE NOT ENOUGH IN LOSS TO TRINITY BAPTIST

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The New College of Florida men's basketball team lost at fell short at Trinity Baptist 88-75 due to offensive struggles in the second half. 

The Banyan's (5-14) got off to a good start in the first half. Forward Jack Scott continued his stretch of impressive displays in the first half, leading the Banyan's with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Giovanni Toscanini provided energy and efficiency off the bench, scoring 6 points and grabbing 1 rebound in nine minutes of action. The Banyan's also converted on their chances at the free-throw line, shooting 80% in the first half. 

New College's defense dominated the first half of action. The Banyan's defense held the Eagles to 38% shooting from the field and 16% shooting from beyond the three-point line. New College also dominated the passing lanes, recording 7 steals that led to 12 New College points. 

The Banyan's prowess on both ends of the floor helped them maintain their lead through the buzzer, going into the second half up 38-34. 

The second half of play was a different story. The Banyan offense went cold, converting on only 36.6% of their second half attempts. NCF also struggled from beyond the arc, connecting on just 2 of their 15 three-point attempts. 

Trintiy Baptist used the Banyan's struggles to take the lead and never look back. The Eagles offense, made 61% of their shots in the second half, as well as connecting on 12 of their 16 free throw attempts. The momentum shift helped the Eagles pull away in the end. The Eagles defeated the Mighty Banyan's 88-75. 

Jack Scott led NCF with another double-double, recording 12 points and 14 rebounds. 

Jordan Clark scored 18 points, leading NCF in scoring. 

Shawn Lefresne and Schuyler Pimentel both scored in double figures. 

NCF is back in action on Tues. Jan 30, at Trinity College.
