Box Score BRADENTON, Fla - A Sun Conference upset attempt was thwarted by Keiser University as the Banyans move to 2-4 in the conference.
Entering the contest, the two teams were adjacent in conference rankings, the Seahawks sitting at 4th with the Banyans right behind them at 5th. Those rankings were a bit misleading however, as Keiser was 3-3 in the conference but 22-5 overall. The matchup proved to be as trialsome as promised, with the Banyans falling to Keiser 3-0.
The first set saw four different lead changes as the two teams engaged in a competitive back and forth. Ultimately Keiser managed to separate late, ending the first set with a final score of 25-19. The Banyans fell to the same fate in the second set as they did in the first, keeping pace with their opponent until the very end, conceding the second set 25-18. Down two sets, the Banyans were outmatched early in the third as the Seahawks cruised to a 25-12 victory to complete the sweep.
Alisa Oletic and
Cassidy Casey led the charge for the Banyans offensively, leading their team with six kills each. On the other side of the ball,
Luisa Hoffman was a bright spot on defense, leading the team with four total blocks.
Following the loss, the Banyans will remain at home to face Warner University on Wednesday, October 9th.
