MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - The Banyans ended their season in the Sun Conference semifinals after a 3-1 loss to St. Thomas University on the road.

Prior to the contest, the Banyans were riding a hot hand, winning five of their last seven games, including a 3-0 sweep of Keiser University that would give New College a home playoff game. St. Thomas was no stranger to regular season success either, as they flaunted an undefeated 28-0 record that earned them the number one seed in the conference. The David and Goliath match-up proved to be too much for New College, and although they made things interesting by stealing a set early, the young team fell to the Bobcats 3-1.

Luisa Hoffman finished the afternoon with 11 kills and two solo blocks, leading her team in both categories. The Banyans fought hard from the service line with four different players earning a pair of aces (Szuba, Casey, Dean, Santiago).

New College women's volleyball finished their season 9-13 regular season record. Cassidy Casey and Kaja Szuba share a spot at the top of the season kill leaderboard with 184 each. Luisa Hoffman finishes as the defensive leader of the team, ending her season with 82 total blocks. Mariana Saba accumulated the most digs (274) and service aces (25) on the team.

In their inaugural season in the Sun Conference, the Banyans earned a 7-7 conference record, and finished their season ranked as the fourth best team in the conference.
