BRADENTON, Fla. - New College women's basketball went undefeated through their weekend doubleheader against the Beacon College Blazers and the Trinity Baptist College Eagles.
The home stint came at just the right time for the Banyans, who were 4-1 and on a three game winning streak entering the busy weekend.Â
New College won both games in dominant fashion, taking a 86-53 victory over Beacon College as well as a 88-51 win over Trinity Baptist, a team the Banyans have already seen once before this season.Â
Against the Blazers, the Banyans found most of their success from outside the paint, finishing the day with a season high 40% three-pointer percentage. Leading the effort was guard
Carson Defries, who went 5-8 from downtown and scored a team high 23 points.
Camila Zbynski had a strong day as well, accounting for 10 rebounds and four assists.Â
While New College was efficient from the three point line against the Blazers, he high flying Banyan offense was forced to work inside on Saturday's match-up with the Trinity Baptist Eagles. The Banyans were held to just a 21.2% on threes, but made up for it by dominating from close range.
Gwen Tsoukalas led her team with 25 points, with 20 of the Banyan's 88 points coming off turnovers.Â
After picking up a pair of home wins, the Banyans head back on the road to face Ave Maria University for their first Sun Conference match-up of the season.Â
