AVE MARIA, Fla - New College women's volleyball beat the Ave Maria University Gyrenes 3-1 on the road to clinch their first Sun Conference playoff berth in program history.
Prior to the match-up, the Gyrenes sat one step above the Banyans in the conference rankings. That would change after New College won three straight sets to steal a road win and improve to 5-6 in the conference.
Ave Maria would take the first set of the contest 25-20 before the Banyans fired back winning sets two (25-20) and three (21-25). Any chance of a Gyrene comeback in set four was quickly shut down by an impressive nine point Banyan run that led to a dominant 25-12 victory.
Cassidy Casey led the way for the Banyans offensively, putting up 15 kills and an ace.
Luisa Hoffman accounted for 12 kills of her own along with four block assists.
Following the road victory, New College women's volleyball return home to play Southeastern University on November 5th.
