WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The New College of Florida softball team lost their series against Keiser University in the teams first competition against a future conference opponent.
The Banyans struggled to put the ball in play at a high level. The team tallied 10 hits through both games, driving in only two runs on the day.
Tiffany Lepic led the way offensively for New College, going 2-6 with a run scored.

Game one of the double header was close up until the bottom of the fifth inning. Banyans starting pitcher
Madilyn Dutton kept the Banyans in the game with an excellent performance on the mound. Through 4.1 innings, Dutton held the Seahawks to one run on four hits. Dutton struck out 2 Seahawk batters and allowed 1 walk before being relieved in the bottom of the fifth.
Jayleigh Totten subbed in for Dutton in the fifth inning, but struggled to contain the Seahawks high powered offense. Keiser went on to put up 6 runs in the fifth and sixth inning, winning the game via run rule with a final score of 8-0.
Madison Mendoza pitched for the Banyans in game two. Mendoza pitched well in the first inning, but allowed the Seahawks to regain their momentum in the bottom of the second. The Keiser lineup put up 5 runs in the second frame, jumping out to another big lead and putting the Banyans on their heels. The Banyan bats continued to struggle up until the sixth inning. Trailing 7-0, Jalyssa Nedesma singled to right center field, scoring two Banyan runs for their first runs of the day. \
The Banyans were not able to capitalize on any other opportunities, falling in game two 8-2.
The Banyans will look to bounce back on Tuesday, Feb 13 when they host St. Thomas University on campus.
