SARASOTA, Fla. - The New College of Florida Mighty Banyans dropped two games to Keiser University Wednesday afternoon.
The Mighty Banyans (2-15) struggled on the offensive end in game one.
The Banyans tallied 5 hits through five innings of action.
Madilyn Dutton lead New College, recording the teams only extra-base hit with a double to left field in the bottom of the fourth inning. Dutton also started on the mound in game one, giving up 4 earned runs in two innings pitched.
The Banyans were never able to capitalize with runners on base, stranding three runners on base.
The Seahawks offense started slow out of the gate, scoring only one run through the first two innings of action. The Seahawks turned their fortune around in the third inning, scoring 7 runs in the third inning.
The Banyans lack of offense allowed Keiser to pull away, ending game one after five innings with a final score of 8-0.
The New College offense improved in game two, scoring two runs in the games first inning.
Madison Garcia drove in the Banyans first run of the afternoon, scoring
Ke'Asia Waters in the first inning.
Tiffany Lepic and
Kira McDonough scored the other two runs for New College on the day.
Jayleigh Totten started on the mound of game two, and impressed. Lepic pitched 3.1 innings, striking out two batters in route to 5 hits and 2 earned runs.
Keiser eliminated the Banyans lead in the fourth innings, regaining their momentum and setting up their strong finish. The Seahawks pulled away from NCF in the sixth inning, scoring 4 runs.
Keiser held on to their lead through the final inning, winning game two of the series with a final score of 6-3.
Madison Garcia drove in the Banyans only RBI on the day.
Tiffany Lepic went 3-5 from the plate and scored one run.
The Mighty Banyans are back in action on Wednesday, Feb 28 when they host Florida National University.
