MENS BASKETBALL CRUISE TO VICTORY OVER TRINITY COLLEGE

SARASOTA, Fla. - The New College mens basketball game cruised their way to a convincing 89-76 victory over Trinity College Thursday evening.

The Banyans offense turned in an all-around stellar performance, generating 89 points on 50/40/61 shooting splits. The Banyans did an excellent job of generating turnovers, and then using those stops to generate buckets on the other end.

The Banyans opened the game on a 24-14 run. Jack Scott and Jordan Clark spearheaded the attack in the opening minutes. Jack Scott drilled the teams first three pointer to open the scoring. After a stop, Scott used his frame to create space down low, scoring at the rim to put NCF up two. Jordan Clark got going shortly after, knocking down back-to-back jumpers and generating open looks for his teammates

After a slow first few minutes, Shawn Lefresne quickly got into rhythm. Shawn Lefresne knocked down back-to-back-to-back three point jump shots, igniting his teammates and the Banyan crowd. Lefresne continued to pour it on, slicing through the lane and floating back to back buckets over the defense.

The Banyan defense, and Shawn Lefresne's outburst helped New College to a 20 point lead going into the halfway mark.

The second half of action was another offensive clinic for the Mighty Banyans. The team connected on 51% of their 35 shots from inside the arc, and knocked down an efficient 46% from three point range on 13 attempts. Lefresne followed up his 20 point first half with 8 points in the second, knocking down 2 of his 4 attempts from deep range. Jack Scott led the charge on offense, scoring 15 points on 75% shooting.

The New College offense was enough to maintain their big lead, claiming victory over Trinity College with a final score of 89-66.

Shawn Lefresne led all scorers with 28 points, knocking down 6-11 shots from behind the arc.

Jack Scott also scored 20 points, grabbing 6 rebounds to go along with 2 steals.

Adonis Caneris and Zach Close both had impressive games on the board, combining for 22 rebounds between the two of them.

Tyrone Smith chipped in 9 points off the bench.

The Mighty Banyans are back in action on Thursday, Feb 15 against No. 21 Florida College.
