MIGHTY BANYANS DROP TWO IN HIGH-POWERED DOUBLEHEADER VS WARNER

LAKE WALES, Fla. – New College Softball competes in high scoring affair against Warner University. 

The Mighty Banyans got off to a slow start in game one. After going down 6 runs in the first four innings, the Banyan offense responded to get back into the game. 

Tiffany Lepic got the scoring started in the fifth inning. Lepic drove a hard single to right field, scoring Ke'Asia Waters for the Banyans first run of the day. Carianne Maitland drove in 2 more runs on another single, scoring Tiffany Lepic and Jalyssa Nedesma. Kira McDonough continued the scoring, driving in Madi Dutton to bring the Banyans within two. 

The Banyans made one final push in the seventh inning. 

Jalyssa Nedesma reached first base to lead off the inning, capitalizing on a Warner error. Tiffany Lepic drove another single to center field, advancing Nedesma to second base. Nedesma stole third after two Banyan outs, bringing up Kira McDonough with the game on the line. McDonough singled to left field, scoring Nedesma and bringing the Banyans within one. Camryn Lee came up to plate for the lead, and reached first safely, however, an impressive play from the Warner infield got Tiffany Lepic out on her way to third base, giving Warner a nail-biting 6-5 game one victory. 

The Banyans recorded 11 hits in game one, with Tiffany Lepic, Madi Dutton, Kira McDonough, and Jalyssa Nedesma leading the way with two hits apiece.

Jayleigh Totten pitched a complete game on the mound, pitching all 6 innings with 5 earned runs and 1 strikeout. 

The Banyans offense continued their hot hitting in game two. 

After trailing early, the Banyans offense got going in the third inning. Jayleigh Totten scored the first run for New College on a fielder's choice. Jayleigh Totten drove in another NCF run in the fourth, scoring Kira McDonough on a single to left field. 

The New College offense exploded in the sixth inning. The Banyans would score 6 runs in the inning, giving the Banyans an 8-7 lead heading into the seventh inning. 

Warner tied the game in the seventh, taking the games to extra innings. 

The Banyan offense went scoreless in the eighth, bringing up Madi Dutton to pitch with the game on the line. Sadly, Warner's momentum was just too much, with Warner escaping game two with an 11-10 victory. 

Ke'Asia Waters and Jalyssa Nedesma led the New College offense in game two, each recording 3 hits. 

Kira McDonough and Cheyenne Waddel both recorded two hits and combined to score three banyan runs. 

Madi Dutton pitched 7.2 innings on the mound, giving up 6 earned runs with 3 strikeouts.
