In a clash of two of the top teams in the Sun Conference, NCF Volleyball fell short, losing 3-1 at Southeastern Wednesday as the Fire avenged a Sept. 10 3-0 loss to the Mighty Banyans at SCF-Bradenton.
NCF set the tone with a 25-19 first set victory that was fueled by an 11-3 run to start the match by the Mighty Banyans.
The Mighty Banyans jumped out to a 19-13 lead in the second set, threatening to go up 2-0 on the first-place Fire for the second time this season, but the Fire rallied to finish the set on a 12-4 run to win it 25-23 and even the match at 1-1.
Southeastern would carry its momentum into the third set, winning 25-17, and then finished off the Banyans with a ... victory in the fourth set.
Wiktoria Telecka led the Mighty Banyans with 21 kills.
Jayleen Santiago also finished with double-digit kills, recording 11 on the night.
Rafaela Domingos with 40 assists while
Maria Luiza Barreis led the Mighty Banyans' defensive efforts with 27 digs.
With the loss, NCF is now 12-3 overall on the year and is 7-3 in Sun Conference play.
NCF will return home to SCF-Bradenton Saturday to host Sun Conference foe Florida Memorial at 2 p.m. EST.
