NCF Men's Soccer secured home field for its Sun Conference Tournament opener with a 3-1 road victory over Ave Maria in its regular season finale.
Pablo Herrera opened the scoring at the 8:17 mark as he scored his second goal of the season off an assist from Sebastian Pedraza.
Ave quickly tied the match as Levi Orlando scored at the 9:50 mark to tie the game at 1-1, which would be the score taken into halftime.
In the second half, star freshman
Cameron Johnson gave NCF the lead as he scored his team-leading 14th goal of the season at the 59:23 mark.
Fabien Donal provided an insurance goal at the 69:54 mark, scoring his eighth goal of the year to make it 3-1, which wound up being the final score.
With the win, NCF finishes regular season play 12-3-1 overall and 5-3 in Sun Conference play.
The Mighty Banyans will be the No. 4 seed in the Sun Conference Tournament and play on Wednesday, with a start time to be determined later. Its opponent will be Florida Memorial, which NCF beat twice in the regular season.
