BRADENTON, Fla. - For a second straight season, NCF Volleyball has punched its ticket to the Sun Conference Tournament Semifinals as the No. 3-seeded Mighty Banyans defeated No. 6-seeded Warner 3-1 at home Tuesday in the conference quarterfinals.
NCF earned a 25-19 victory in the first set, but Warner bounced back with a 25-23 second set win to even the match at 1-1.Â
The third set saw both teams tied at 22, but NCF was able to put together a 3-0 to make it 2-1, which gave the Mighty Banyans all the momentum it needed as it earned a 25-17 fourth set win to close out the Royals.
Wiktoria Telecka and
Soraya Nacero led NCF with 20 kills each, while
Beliz Sahin recorded a season-high eight kills.
Rafaela Domingos posted a team-high 51 assists while
Maria Luiza Barreis led NCF's defensive efforts with 30 kills.Â
The Mighty Banyans will travel to Miami Gardens for the Semifinals hosted by St. Thomas. There, it will take on No. 2 seeded Southeastern with the winner set to take on either No. 4 seeded Keiser or No. 1 seeded St. Thomas in Saturday's championship match.
