Maria Luiza Barreis has been named the Sun Conference Libero of the Year.
Luiza Barreis, a former setter who has moved to the libero position, leads NCF, averaging 6.05 digs per set, which leads the Sun Conference and ranks fourth nationally, and has posted 478 total digs.
A four-time Sun Conference Defender Of The Week Award winner this season, she has posted a 95.4 reception percentage, committing just 16 reception errors on the season.
She has recorded at least 10 digs in all but one match she has played in this season, and in her one game without 10, she finished with nine digs.Â
The Sao Paulo, Brazil native has posted five performances with at least 30 digs, including a season-high 41 on her Senior Night against Warner.
Luiza Barreis and the Mighty Banyans will be back in action Friday against Southeastern in the Sun Conference Tournament Semifinals hosted by St. Thomas.
