WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. NCF Men's Soccer season came to an end Saturday in West Palm Beach as the No. 4-seeded Mighty Banyans fell to top-seeded and nationally ranked No. 3 Keiser 3-2 in the Sun Conference Tournament semifinals despite an admirable second
Keiser struck first blood early as Justin Bangura scored at the 3:22 mark and by halftime, the Seahawks jumped in front 3-0 as Eric Bancel scored at the 12:37 mark and Mohammed Mouzoune scored in the final minute of the half.
After struggling through the first half, the Mighty Banyans showed no quit.
Senior
Fabien Donal scored his 10th goal of the season and second of the postseason at the 52:17 mark and just three minutes later, fellow senior
Hannes Ulbrich scored his second goal of the season and postseason at the 55:30 mark.
In net,
Mathis Leveque made three second half saves to finish with five on the day and to buy the Mighty Banyans time to connect on an equalizer, but Keiser's Santiago Nebot saved would-be game-tying shots on net for
Cameron Johnson and
Juan Palomino.
With the loss, NCF finishes its third season in program history and first under head coach Cesar Markovic, 14-4-1 overall, having finished 5-3 in Sun Conference play and having won its first-ever Sun Conference tournament game when it defeated Florida Memorial 2-0 in last Wednesday's semifinal.
