SARASOTA, Fl.
The Mighty Banyans' Men's Basketball team failed to pick up the victory against Keiser University, losing 82-67 on Saturday.
The Banyans got off to a hot start to the game finding themselves up 12 halfway through the first half including three treys in a row from Jordan Clark, Jack Scott, and Diego Eslava. Also in the first half, Charlie Yoder was able to find his way to the free throw line seven times, draining all seven of his attempts from the charity stripe.
Despite shooting under 40% from the field in the first half, the Banyans rode that charity stripe to 14 free points out of 15 attempts in the first half.
Keiser found their way back as the half went on with a dominating stretch in the paint. Using the eight layups over the next 10 minutes, Keiser was able to tie the score at 33 by the end of the first half.
To start the second half, the Seahawks were able to open up an early 6 point lead with two three pointers by Chris Roth and after that never looked back as the Banyans weren't able to grab a lead for the rest of the game. Roth finished the second half with four makes from beyond the arc.
Diego Eslava kept his shooting barrage going with two makes from three point range in that second half but it proved to not be enough to overcome the suffocating Seahawks defense inside the paint.
Eslava was the Banyans leading scorer with 14 points, Jordan Clark led the Banyans in assists with 4, and Jack Scott and Charlie Yoder both grabbed 7 boards.
The Banyans will take on #15 Florida Memorial University on Wednesday at 7:30 pm in Miami Gardens, Fl.
