BRADENTON, Fla - The Mighty Banyans end their season on a road playoff loss to the Southeastern University Fire with a 82-80 final score.
The away team hoped to keep their win streak against Southeastern alive after sweeping them during the regular season, winning both matchups by a combined score of three points. The Fire got hot out of the gate, outsourcing their opponents 46-28 in the first half.
A slow Banyan start did not prevent New College from battling back in the second half, however, as the team put together a comeback that would tie things up at 76 with one minute left to play. Unfortunately, a Fire layup followed by a pair of free throws from the home team put the game just out of reach. The Banyan's got the ball back down only two, but with point-seven seconds left on the clock the game ended before a potential game winner could be attempted. New College would lose the game 82-80, ending their season with the playoff exit.
Charlie Yoder led the would-be Banyan comeback with a team high 35 points.
Jordan Clark was behind him with 15 points and a team leading 10 rebounds.
The Banyans finish the season with a 14-15 overall record, and a 7-9 conference record.
