LAKE WALES, Fla. – New College Baseball splits series vs Warner.
New College of Florida Baseball kept their Sun Conference record at .500 after splitting a four-game series with Warner University over the weekend.
The Banyans scored a combined 19 runs over the four-game series. The Banyans secured victory in game one of the series thanks to a six-run explosion in the sixth inning.
Wil Gregory opened the scoring for the Banyans, roping a double to right center field and driving in two Banyan runs.
Domenic Fernandez and
Brecken Fair added two more runs via a single and a sacrifice fly.
Patrick Fink and Fernando Rivera Calderon drove in the final two runs of the frame, giving the Banyans a 7-3 lead.
New College held on to capture a 7-4 victory in game one.
The Banyans slipped in games two and three of the series, scoring a combined two runs in the two losses.
New College's offense roared back to life in the fourth and final game.
Fernando Rivera Calderon opened the scoring in the third inning. Calderon blasted a ball over the left-field fence for a grand slam. Matt Merk added another run in the third, driving in
John McIntosh on a double to left field.
The Banyans continued their success in the fourth inning.
Patrick Fink drove in three runs to open the frame. Fink laced a single to left field, scoring
Landen Morrison,
Brecken Fair, and
Domenic Fernandez following a throwing error.
Dylan Bowen drove in the Banyans 10
th and final run of the game, bringing home Rivera on a single to left center field.
The series split improved the Banyans record to 11-16 (4-4 SUN). New College Baseball is back in action next weekend at home against No. 4 Southeastern.
