MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – New College Softball completes sweep over Florida Memorial.
New College of Florida Softball improved their record to 12-13 overall, and 5-4 in the Sun Conference in a sweep over Florida Memorial.
The Banyans started the series with an 11-4 victory on Friday. The Banyan offense came alive after trailing 3-0 into the third inning. New College scored 5 consecutive runs in the top of the frame.
Jade Kruse started the scoring, lacing a single to center field to bring home
Sadie Strauss for the first run of the inning.
Ashlynn Senter followed suit with a single of her own, driving in another to bring their deficit to one.
Saremi Flores,
Rylie Harwood, and
Haley Rosenbaum drove in three more runs to finish out the inning, giving the Banyans a 5-3 lead.
New College extended their lead in the fourth and fifth innings, scoring 6 more runs in the two periods to help the Banyans win game one.
New College's offense continued their run of good form in game two.
The Banyans scored five runs in 7 innings to take a 2-0 lead in the series.
Saremi Flores led the way in game two, driving in three runs on three hits, including a home run to center field in the first inning.
The Banyans completed their sweep with a 7-6 win in the third and final game of the series.
New College did all of its damage in the third and fourth innings.
Ashlynn Senter and
Samantha Suarez started drove in the Banyan's first two runs, setting up
Kira McDonough with a runner on first. McDonough connected on a fastball down the middle, driving the ball to deep left field for the Banyans second home run of the series.
The Banyans 7 runs in the third and fourth was all the offense they needed to close out the sweep, scoring a combined 23 runs in the three wins.
