SARASOTA, Fla. - NCF Women's Soccer fell 1-0 Friday in its 2025 home opener and first-ever game at the NCF Bayfront Field.
The game was counted as a non-conference affair despite Florida Memorial being fellow members of the Sun Conference.
Scoreless with less than five minutes left to play, the Lions scored the lone goal of the afternoon with Alba Carcamo-Alvarado putting in the game-winner.
Otherwise, freshman goaltender
Avaya Wright was perfect in net for the Mighty Banyans, making four saves.Â
NCF got off a season-high six shots on goal as
Sofia Hernandez Cruz attempted to get off three shots on goal. In contrast,
Gloria Quintanilla,
Julia Moore, and Gabriela Dos Santos each got one shot on the net, but FMU's Isabella Rueda saved all six shots.
The Mighty Banyans will be back in action Monday when it takes on Florida College on the road in Temple Terrace at 6 p.m EST.
