BRADENTON, Fla. - NCF Men's Basketball dropped a nail-biter at home Wednesday to Sun Conference foe Webber, losing by a final score of 80-74.
NCF opened the game on an 8-0 run, but the Warriors fought back to close out the opening half on a 33-21 run to take a 33-29 lead into halftime.
The second half saw both teams trade blows, but it was the Warriors who outscored NCF 47-45 in the half to leave town with a six-point win.
Giovanni Toscanini led the Mighty Banyans with 23 points, shooting a stellar 10-for-14 from the field. He was joined in double figures by
Diego Eslava (13) and
Shawn Lefresne (12).
Carlin Gelin grabbed a team-leading eight rebounds, Lefresne dished a team-high six assists and Eslava picked up a team-high four steals on the defensive end.
With the loss, NCF is now 5-11 on the year and 0-6 in Sun Conference play. The Mighty Banyans will be back in action Saturday at Warner with tip-off scheduled for 4 p.m. EST.
