No. 4 Ave Maria was too much for the Mighty Banyans on the road Wednesday as the Gyrenes defeated NCF 102-62 to complete a season sweep of its Sun Conference foes.
NCF held an 18-17 lead midway through the opening half, but Ave caught fire using a 32-15 run to take a 49-33 lead into halftime that it would not relinquish.
Zach Close led NCF with a season-high 11 points. He was joined in double figures by
Giovanni Toscanini with 10 points.
Shawn Lefresne dished a team-high four assists in the loss, finished tied with
Carlin Gelin with a team-leading five rebounds and even with
Jonathan Olodude with a team-leading two steals.
Gelin picked up NCF's lone block of the shot on the defensive end.
