NCF Men's Basketball saw its losing streak swell to three Saturday as it fell 87-73 to No. 11 ranked Keiser in West Palm Beach.
The Mighty Banyans went into halftime within striking distance, trailing 41-29, but then saw the Seahawks' lead swell to 59-34 with 14:29 left to play after Keiser opened the second half on an 18-5 run.
NCF cut the Keiser lead back to 16 with 7:52 left to go, but its comeback effort came up short as it fell by 14 to the No. 11 ranked Seahawks.
Point guard
Shawn Lefresne led NCF with 21 points and six assists while finishing tied with
Colby Chapman and
Carlin Gelin with a team-leading two steals.
Lefresne was joined in double figures by
Alex Excellent (15) and
Ben Walker (12).
Gelin pulled down a team-high seven rebounds and added a block on the defensive end, while
Zach Close also had a block in the loss.
With the loss, NCF is now 5-8 overall on the season and 0-3 in Sun Conference play. It will return home to welcome Coastal Georgia to SCF-Bradenton in a Sun Conference clash Wednesday.
