Avaya Wright has been named the Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week following a 22-save week to close the regular season.
The honor marks the third Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week award of Wright's career and her first of the 2026 season.
Wright, a sophomore from Parrish, Florida, opened the week with six saves Tuesday at Ave Maria before delivering a season-high 16 saves Thursday against No. 21 SCAD.
The 16-save performance tied the second-most saves Wright has recorded in a match during her NCF career. Her career high came last season when she made 19 saves against eventual NAIA National Champion Keiser.
The two-year starter has started every match for the Mighty Banyans this season. Wright enters postseason play with 69 saves, a .784 save percentage, a 1.43 goals-against average and three individual shutouts.
Wright and No. 6 seed NCF will open postseason play Wednesday in Miami Gardens against No. 3 seed Florida Memorial in the Sun Conference Tournament quarterfinals.
