NCF Softball's outstanding start to the 2026 season continued over the weekend in Babson Park as the Mighty Banyans swept a three-game series from Webber in its Sun Conference opener to improve to 12-1 overall and start 3-0 in league play.
The Banyans earned a 3-2 victory in Game 1 despite being out-hit 9-3, in Game 2 earned a 10-4 victory in a game that began Friday and was completed Saturday due to weather and then finished off the sweep with a 1-0 victory in the series finale later Saturday afternoon.
Game 1
The Mighty Banyans struck first blood in Friday's opener as an error allowed
Kelsey Harper to score in the top of the third and in the top of the fourth,
Sydney Rich slugged her second home run of the season to make it 2-0.
Webber would tie the game thanks to a two-run home run off the bat of Eliana Hernandez in the bottom of the fourth and the game would remain scoreless until the top of the eighth as in extras,
Samantha Suarez lifted a go-ahead sac-fly.
After retiring the first two batters of the inning NCF reliever
Kendall Rubel ran into trouble loading the bases with two outs. Head Coach Corbin Weeks elected to re-enter
Dani Ebert, who got the start and the move paid off as she retired Alissa Aguirre via a fielder's choice to end the game.
Game 2
The Mighty Banynas jumped in front early in Game 2, as before the game was suspended to Saturday due to weather, a grand slam off the bat of
Kira McDonough highlighted a five-run top of the third for NCF.
Webber would rally back before the two teams stopped play for the day to cut NCF's lead to 5-4 in as it capitalized on a pair of errors in the bottom of the fith but when play resumed Saturday, it was all Banynas.
After both teams were shut down in the sixth, NCF put together a five-run two-out rally in the top of the seventh as both Suarez and Rich delivered RBI singles and
Rylie Harwood launched a three-run home run that put the game out of reach at 10-4.
In the circle,
Isabella Yazzetti worked a complete-game over the two days in which she did not allow an earned run and struck out eight Warriors.
Game 3
The series finale remained scoreless until the top of the fifth when McDonough laced an RBI single to put the Mighty Banyans ahead 1-0.
That would be all Yazzetti and the Banyans needed as the freshman right-hander threw another complete-game, this time a shutout that saw her strike out three and allow just four hits.
