NCF Men's Basketball's bid for its first Sun Conference victory of the season fell just short Saturday as the Mighty Banyans fell 95-88 on the road at Coastal Georgia.
The Mariners finished off a season sweep of NCF with the win.
The Mighty Banyans opened Saturday's contest on a 10-0 run, but at the 9:30 mark in the second half, the Mariners pulled ahead and went on to take a 46-39 lead into halftime.
NCF and Coastal Georgia would play even at 49 in the second half, which would not allow the Mighty Banyans to finish off the comeback.
Giovanni Toscanini led NCF with 26 points as he shot a stellar 11-for-16 from the field. He also picked up a team-high three steals.
Toscanini was joined in double figures by
Diego Eslava (11),
Shawn Lefresne (11) and
Ben Walker (10).
Colby Chapman grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, Lefresne dished a team-high six assists, while Walker picked up NCF's lone block of the day.
With the loss, NCF is now 5-18 overall and 0-12 in Sun Conference play and will be back in action Wednesday when it hosts RV Southeastern.
