NCF Baseball finished its trip at the RussMatt Tournament in Davenport 2-0 Sunday as it defeated Waldorf 8-3 in seven innings to improve to a program-best start of 13-5 on the season.
With the score tied at 1-1, NCF pulled ahead in the bottom of the third as
Rylan Jomisko lifted a sac-fly and
Patrick Fink scored on a wild pitch.
The Mighty Banyans added four insurance runs in the bottom of the fourth as
Matthew Merk hit an RBI single, Fernando  Espinal ripped a two-run double and Jomisko lined an RBI single, making it 7-1.
After the Warriors got two runs back in the top of the sixth, the Banyans added one more in the bottom half the frame thanks to another RBIs single from Jomisko.
Meanwhile, NCF's ace
Ryan Swartz was stellar again as he moved to 4-0 on the season by tossing 6.0 innings, allowing just two earned runs, striking out six, allowing just three hits and one walk.
In relief,
Luke Kimball worked a perfect top of the seventh, striking out two to shut the door on the Warriors.
NCF will finish non-conference play next weekend by hosting Fort Lauderdale for a four-game weekend series with doubleheaders slated to begin both Saturday and Sunday at Noon EST.
