SARASOTA, Fla. - No. 6 NCF Beach Volleyball impressed against high-level competition at Banyan Beach in front of a record crowd as the Mighty Banyans fell to The Association Volleyball Pros in an exhibition and then fell to NCAA DI Nebraska 4-1 in a regular season match.
The Cornhuskers secured four points across the lineup, but the Mighty Banyans continued to impress against top-level competition.
At the No. 2 position,
Kayla Gentry and
Jayden Ponsford delivered one of the standout performances of the day, pushing first-team All-Americans Harper Murray and Andi Jackson to three sets before falling 22-20, 9-21, 15-10.
Nebraska picked up points at No. 1, No. 3, and No. 4.
Oliva Fenstermaker and
Cassidy Casey were defeated in straight sets at the top spot, while
Jayleen Santiago and
Morgan McGuire fell at No. 3.
Sibelle Dias and
Alba Romanos Gracia were also defeated at No. 4.
New College earned its lone point at the No. 5 position, where
Maria Luiza Barreis and
Camilla Vaerini secured a three-set victory over Kenna Cogill and Campbell Flynn, winning 21-13, 17-21, 15-12.
The Mighty Banyans will return to action Friday at 4 p.m. when it hosts Ave Maria at Banyan Beach.
