BRADENTON, Fla. - NCF Men's and Women's Tennis each put together a strong 2-1 weekend in a trio of home matches at Ave Maria.
Both the RV Men and NCF Women defeated Florida National 4-0 Friday, Ave Maria 4-0 Saturday and fell to Xavier, Louisiana, Sunday.
The NCF Men improved to 6-6 overall and 3-2 in Sun Conference play, while the Women improved to 4-8 overall and 2-3 in Sun Conference play.

vs. Florida National
The Mighty Banyans secured the doubles point to jump in front 1-0 Â Friday as
Pedro Lemos and
Konstantin Kukaras battled to a 7-6, 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles,
Patrick Janikian and
Hugo Fidler earned a 6-3 victory at No. 2, while
Carlos Quinones and
Timothy Phung won 7-6, 7-2 win at No. 3.
Quinones earned a commanding 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 2, Â Kukaras controlled his match at No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-3 win, while
Pedro Lemos secured a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 5.
vs. RV Ave Maria
Saturday, the Mighty Banyans handled RV Ave Maria in a Sun Conference match again setting the tone by winning the doubles point as Janikian and earned a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Quinones and Phung followed with a 6-1 win at No. 3.
In singles play, Fidler was dominant at No. 3 singles, winning 6-3, 6-0, Kukaras added a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4 and Lemos controlled his match at No. 5, securing a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
vs. No. 9 Xavier Lousiana
NCF opened its battle with No. 9 Xavier, Louisiana by earning the doubles point as Fidler and Janikian secured a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Phung and Quinones followed with a 6-3 win at No. 3.
However, Xavier went 5-1 in the six singles matches to secure the victory, with the Mighty Banyans' lone victory coming at No. 3 with Fidler defeating Emmanuel Jebutu in three sets.
Women's Weekend Recap
vs. Florida National
The Mighty Banyan Women earned their first Sun Conference win in program history by taking down Florida National 4-0 Friday.
Emilia Schulte and
Itza Rogel dominated at No. 1 with a 6-0 win, while
Alexandra Sibrikova and
Gia Rizzo were awarded the win at No. 3 due to a forfeit, securing the doubles point for New College.
In singles,
Madeleine Chellas led the way with a decisive 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1. New College added two more points at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, as Sibrikova and Rizzo each earned wins by forfeit.
vs. Ave Maria
The Mighty Banyan Women earned another Sun Conference victory Saturday by taking down Ave Maria 4-0. In doubles, Â Schulte and Rogel set the tone with a 6-0 win at No. 1 while Sibrikova and Rizzo secured a win by forfeit at No. 3 to give New College the doubles point.
In singles, Chellas delivered a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 1. Schulte clinched the team victory at No. 3.New College added two more points at No. 4 and No. 5, with  Sibrikova and Rizzo each earning wins by forfeit.
vs. No. 6 Xavier Lousiana
NCF finished the weekend with a loss to No. 6 Xavier Louisiana as it was unable to earn the double point but did pick up two points in singles play.
Chellas earned a hard-fought win at No. 1, rallying for a 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (10-5) victory while Rogel added another point at No. 4 with a 6-1, 6-4 win.
Up Next: The NCF Women will welcome SUNY New Paltz to IMG Academy Tuesday, while the men will return to action April 10 at home against SCAD Savannah.
