BRADENTON, Fla. -Â NCF Men's Golf secured its first-ever tournament championship Thursday as it won the three-day, three-team 54-hole New College Invitational at River Club Golf Course in Bradenton over Florida College and Concordia (Wisconsin).
Mighty Banyans Freshman
Gordon Goetz, who was not in the team starting lineup, won the individual championship by averaging a clubhouse best 76.6 over three rounds at the Par 72 course. He shot just three over par in the final round, scoring a 75 to secure the title.
He finished one stroke ahead of
Avery Shahriari and Sean O'Riley, who guided NCF to its team championship by shooting a 231, finishing 15-over par.
Rounding out NCF's team title efforts were
Jackson Krueger, who finished fourth in the Invitational at 18-over par, and
Patrick Bond, who shot 20-over, placing sixth overall.
Oscar Munoz rounded out NCF's starting lineup by placing 12th overall.
The Mighty Banyans will return to action over the weekend as it will compete in the Kona Ice Keiser Kup in West Palm Beach from Sunday to Tuesday.
