No. 6 seeded NCF Women's Lacrosse fell 19-7 to No. 3 seeded and No. 6 ranked Ave Maria in the Sun Conference Tournament Quarterfinals on the campus of Keiser University in West Palm Beach Thursday
Ave Maria controlled the game early, scoring seven goals in the opening quarter to build a significant lead. The Gyrenes continued to add on throughout, including a six-goal third period to extend the margin.
Bella Bradshaw,
Ashley Palmer, and
Makayla Hardware each scored two goals to lead New College, while
Baylie Dow added another.Â
Hardware also contributed an assist, and Bradshaw recorded an assist as well.
Defensively,
Abbigail Hardaker made 12 saves in goal.Â
The Banyans totaled 12 ground balls and forced eight caused turnovers, with
Hannah Picott leading the team with four draw controls and multiple caused turnovers.
NCF finishes its second season in program history 5-11.
