SARASOTA, Fla. - New College of Florida Women's Lacrosse defeated Truett McConnell 19-9 at home on Thursday evening to improve to 4-6 overall on the season.
New College controlled the game from the opening draw, scoring eight goals in the first quarter behind multiple goals from Bella Bradshaw, Ashley Palmer, Makayla Hardware and Baylie Dow to take an 8-0 lead.
Truett McConnell responded with five goals in the second quarter, but the Banyans continued to answer. Dow scored three times in the period, while Bradshaw and Hannah Picott each added goals to give New College a 13-5 lead at halftime.
New College extended its lead in the third with goals from Hardware, Bradshaw and Palmer, pushing the advantage to 16-6 entering the fourth.
The Banyans added three more goals in the final quarter, including a late score from Sara-Lee Brown, to secure the win.
Dow led the offense with five goals. Bradshaw, Palmer and Hardware each recorded four goals, while Picott added a goal and three assists.
Bradshaw led the team with four ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Dow and Sara-Lee Brown each added a caused turnover.
Melina Krause and Abbigail Hardaker combined for six saves in goal for New College, with Krause picking up the win.
The Mighty Banyanas will return to action Saturday when it visits Sun Conference foe No. 3 SCAD Savannah.
