CLEARWATER, Fla. - No. 4 seeded New College of Florida fell 4-3 to No. 3 seeded and No. 18 ranked Coastal Georgia on Friday in an elimination game at the Sun Conference Tournament in Clearwater.
Coastal Georgia struck early with a pair of runs in the first inning before New College answered in the second.
Arianna Thomason delivered a two-out, two-run double to left center, bringing home
Tori Goodell and
Kelsey Harper to tie the game at 2-2.
Coastal Georgia regained the lead in the fifth on an RBI single, but New College responded again in the seventh.
Rylie Harwood doubled to left center to score
Karyna Lewis and even the game at 3-3.
The Mariners answered in the bottom half of the inning with the decisive run on an RBI single to take a 4-3 lead.
NCF will await its NAIA Tournament fate while holding a record of 32-15 on the year.
