New College of Florida Women's Soccer completed a dominant weekend in Georgia on Sunday, defeating Wesleyan College 10-0 at Nancy Panoz Field in Macon.
The Mighty Banyans improved to 4-0 after scoring seven times in the opening half and adding three goals after the break. NCF outscored Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and Wesleyan by a combined 21-0 during its two-match road trip.
Sarah Benjamin recorded the first hat trick of her collegiate career, while Faith Hardy, Emma Hunter and Naomi Woerner each scored twice. Junior Brooke Laschke added her first collegiate goal.
NCF has now scored 40 goals this season, setting a new single-season program record through just four matches. The Mighty Banyans have also already established new single-season records with 198 shots and 100 shots on goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
NCF wasted little time taking control as Hardy opened the scoring off an assist from Woerner in the second minute.
Woerner then assisted on goals from Hunter in the fifth and seventh minutes, giving the Mighty Banyans a 3-0 advantage just 6:06 into the match. The two goals were the first of Hunter's collegiate career.
Hardy added her second goal in the 14th minute before Woerner scored off an assist from Gloria Quintanilla less than two minutes later.
Benjamin converted penalty kicks in the 31st and 38th minutes to send NCF into halftime with a 7-0 lead.
Woerner scored her second goal of the match in the 51st minute, again connecting with Quintanilla. The goal gave Woerner eight this season, tying Sofia Hernandez Cruz's 2024 program record for goals in a single season.
Laschke scored her first collegiate goal from the penalty spot in the 71st minute before Benjamin completed her hat trick with another penalty kick in the 84th.
THE TURNING POINT
NCF scored three times during the opening 6:06 to take immediate control of the match.
After assisting Hardy's opening goal, Woerner set up Hunter twice in a span of 72 seconds. The Mighty Banyans continued to build on the early advantage, scoring five times within the first 15:08 and carrying a seven-goal lead into halftime.
