NCF MEN'S SOCCER ERASES TWO-GOAL DEFICIT, EARNS DRAW AGAINST RV DALTON STATE

New College of Florida Men's Soccer scored three consecutive second-half goals to erase a two-goal deficit and earn a 3-3 draw against RV Dalton State Monday afternoon at the Grizzly Soccer Complex.

The Mighty Banyans (0-2-1) entered halftime trailing 1-0 before Dalton State doubled its advantage early in the second half. Ducamel Jeannestin started the comeback before Cameron Johnson scored twice in less than seven minutes to put NCF ahead 3-2.

Dalton State found the equalizer in the 70th minute, but freshman goaltender Emmanuel Beltran, making his first career start as a Mighty Banyan, and the NCF defense held firm down the stretch to secure the Mighty Banyans' first result of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Dalton State produced the early pressure, forcing Beltran into a save less than two minutes into the match.

The Roadrunners broke through in the 24th minute when Bruno Conto scored to give Dalton State a 1-0 advantage.

Beltran made three additional saves during the opening half to keep NCF within one heading into the break.

Dalton State doubled its lead in the 52nd minute when David Saldana scored off assists from Jonathan Mindegaard and Jack Kuspert.

The Mighty Banyans answered just over three minutes later. Theo Weber found Jeannestin, who converted the opportunity for his second goal of the season to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Johnson pulled NCF even at the 59:04 mark with his second goal of the season.

The sophomore struck again just over six minutes later. Jeannestin and Andres Garcia combined to set up Johnson, who completed his brace and gave the Mighty Banyans their first lead of the afternoon at 3-2.

Dalton State responded at the 69:14 mark when Jamal Gizir scored off an assist from Nicolas Cuna to tie the match.

The Roadrunners continued to apply pressure over the final 20 minutes, but Beltran and the NCF defense kept the match even.

NCF was reduced to 10 players in the 88th minute. Dalton State hit the crossbar moments later before Beltran made one final save to preserve the draw.

THE TURNING POINT

NCF faced a 2-0 deficit following Dalton State's goal in the 52nd minute but responded with three unanswered goals.

Jeannestin started the comeback in the 55th minute before Lucas tied the match five minutes later. Johnson then completed the turnaround at the 65:39 mark, giving the Mighty Banyans a 3-2 advantage.

Although Dalton State eventually equalized, NCF's three-goal response allowed the Mighty Banyans to leave Lawrenceville with their first result of the season.
