David McFatrich has officially joined New College of Florida's Athletics Department as the New Head Volleyball Coach for the 2025-26 season. Coach McFatrich joins the Banyans with an impressive resume.
McFatrich has an illustrious coaching career, including stints at both Mississippi State and Central Arkansas, where he held a 137-92 career record and a 2013 Southland Coach of the Year honor at Central Arkansas.
McFatrich found his way into the Division I level as an assistant at Central Arkansas in 2007. He was elevated to head coach before the 2011 season, and racked up an impressive 96-36 record in his first four season at the helm. McFatrich coached an impressive Five Player of the Year winners, five Setter of the Year winners, three Freshman of the Years and two Libero's of the Year. Under his coaching, 22 athletes were named All-Southland performers, with 19 first teamers and 7 athletes being awarded 20 player of the week honors.
McFatrich was then named the head coach at Mississippi State, where he led them to 17 wins in his inaugural 2015 season. This season was the first winning season for the program since 2006, and the top mark for a first-year head coach in program history. Five student athletes were named Academic All-SEC performers across his 3 seasons.
Most recently, McFatrich took the helm of Charleston Southern Volleyball program, where he led the VolleyBucs to a 14-15 overall record and a 6-8 record in Big South play. His squad also made an appearance in the Big South quarterfinals thanks to a winner-take-all five-set thriller at Radford in their season finale. During his tenure, he had one athlete named All-Big South First Team, with two freshman also earning All Academic honors.
