MIGHTY BANYANS FALL SHORT AGAINST SOUTHEASTERN

SARASOTA, Fla - The Mighty Banyan's men's basketball team lost80-62 against receiving votes Southeastern Saturday afternoon.

The Mighty Banyans (1-5) men's basketball team traveled to Lakeland, Fla., to face off against the Southeastern Fire (RV) Saturday afternoon. 

The Banyans, fresh off an impressive performance against No. 14 St. Thomas, looked to continue that momentum against another nationally rated program. 

Southeastern's offense was strong out the gates. They jumped out to an early 9-2 lead and forced the Banyans to make adjustments. 

Quincy Snoddy, Jr. and Giovanni Toscanini connected on shots in the lane to spark the Banyan offense. Malachi Pearson continued the momentum with back to back makes, tying the game at 14. 

Both teams traded buckets up to the seven minute mark, when Southeastern went on a 14-2 run. 

Jordan Clark and Shawn Lefresne both scored in the final minutes of action, sending the Banyans into the break trailing 30-37.

Southeastern got right back to work after the break, creating turnovers and forcing New College into tough shots, extending their lead to eight. 

Jack Scott hit a tough jump shot following a couple Southeastern buckets, bringing the lead back to ten. 

Southeastern's offense got going midway through the half. They connected on threes and scored at a high rate, giving the Fire their largest lead of the game at 16. 

The Mighty Banyans kept on fighting. Malachi Pearson scored 5 consecutive points, helping the Banyans get back into the game with three minutes remaining. 

The Banyans offense couldn't capitalize to finish the afternoon, ultimately losing to Southeastern 80-62. 

Jordan Clark led the way for NCF with 11 points and 4 rebounds. 

Quincy Snoddy, Jr. added 10 points, and Jack Scott led the way defensively with 7 rebounds. 

The Mighty Banyans will be back in action on Monday, Nov. 20 for the second home game of the season against Florida Memorial at 7p.m.
