AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Mighty Banyan's dropped their first game of the weekend vs Paine College 86-89.
The Banyans (4-12) began a competitive weekend with a trip to Augusta, GA to face off against a tough Paine Lions team. The Banyan's began the first half with a spark on the offensive end of the floor.
Jack Scott dominated the paint in the opening frame. Scott knocked down 5 o fhis 9 first half shot attempts, and also grabbed 7 rebounds, with 4 of them coming on the offensive end.
Schuyler Pimentel also played well in the first half, scoring 13 points on 83% shooting from the field.
The New College defense struggled to keep up with the Lions firepower. The Lions were unstoppable down low, shooting an uber-efficient 55.9% from the field, with 8 assists as a team. The Banyan's defensive struggles were too much to overcome in the first half, leaving them trailing 40-44 at the break.
The Mighty Banyan's improved on both sides of the ball in the second half. The Banyan offense converted on 57.1% of their shots in the second half.
Jordan Clark led all scorers in the second half, scoring 20 points on 70% shooting from the field.
Jack Scott impressed again in the second half. Scott tallied 12 points and 9 rebounds on a perfect 6-6 shooting from the field.
The Banyan's offense kept them in the game until the buzzer. While they outscored the Lions 46-45 in the half, their first half struggles got the best of them, leading to a 89-86 win for Paine College.

Jordan Clark, and
Schuyler Pimentel all had impressive performances, scoring over 20 points each and combining for 72 points.
Scott also posted a double-double, grabbing 16 rebounds to go along with his 26 points.
The Banyans are back in action on Sat, Jan 20. at Bob Jones University.
