BRADENTON, Fla - New College men's basketball fell at home 89-69 to the Florida Memorial Lions as they continue the search for their first Sun Conference win of the season.
The Banyans 6-1 hot start to the season did its best to prepare them for the gauntlet of conference games before them, but a loss to Ave Maria on the road began a skid that would continue at home, where the Banyans met up with the 5-2 Lions.
The two teams stayed neck in neck for the remainder of the first half, with New College managing to stay within striking distance exiting the first half with a 39-31 score. Up nine coming out of the break, the Lions entered halftime determined to build their lead, a goal that they would accomplish through the final 20 minutes of play. While New College managed to get the game within five points, the Lions pulled away for good within the final ten minutes, ending the game with a 89-69 final score.
Charlie Yoder led the way on the stat sheet, putting up a season high 31 points in the contest, also reeling in six rebounds.
Jordan Clark accounted for 10 rebounds, and put up 16 points of his own.
Following the loss, New College will return to action at home on December 4th to face Florida National University.
