SARASOTA, Fla. - The New College of Florida Softball team captured their first victory in program history with a 5-0 win over Heartland Community College.
The team captured their first victory thanks to a stellar outing on the mound from
Madilyn Dutton, and overall solid performances in the box on the offensive end.
Madilyn Dutton was the star of the show in game one. Dutton achieved her first complete game of the season, pitching all 7 innings. Dutton's achievements didn't end there, as she also shut out the Heartland offense, allowing only 5 hits and striking out 9 batters. Dutton also performed on the offensive end, going 1-3 in the game with a run and 2 RBI.

Tiffany Lepic for the teams first run of the ball game.The Banyans hep the lead at 1-0 until the fifth inning, where they exploded for four more runs.

The Banyans held on to their lead, winning their first game in program history 5-0.
Tiffany Lepic was another standout performance for New College, going a perfect 3-3 from the plate and scoring 2 runs.
Kira McDonough went 2-3, driving in 2 RBI and scoring 1 run.
Ke'Asia Waters and Jalyssa Nedesma both recorded 2 hits.
D'Lani Navarro and
Madison Garcia also recorded a hit.
The Mighty Banyans will look to build off their first victory on Friday, Feb 10 when they travel to Keiser University.
