BANYANS LOSE BOTH IN DOUBLE HEADER AGAINST WEBBER INTERNATIONAL

SARASOTA, Fla. – The New College of Florida Softball team dropped two games in a competitive series against Webber International University.

The Warriors got off to a great start on the offensive end, scoring three runs in the first inning to capture the lead.

Tiffany Lepic singled in the first inning for the Banyans first base runner, but two ground outs retired the inning with Lepic stranded on base.

The Banyans offensive struggles continued into the late innings of the ball game. Jalyssa Nedesma and Ella Krascewski both singled for their first hits of the afternoon. Tiffany Lepic singled in the bottom of the sixth inning for her second hit of the game.

The Banyans offense could not capitalize in game one, going scoreless through seven innings in a 6-0 loss.

Tiffany Lepic picked up 2 hits in 3 trips to the plate.

Jalyssa Nedesma, Ke'Asia Waters, and Ella Krascewski all recorded hits.

The Mighty Banyan defense improved in the opening innings of game two. The Banyans allowed one run In the first inning before ramping up the defense. The Banyans held the Warriors scoreless in the next three innings, remaining in a 1-0 deficit.
The Warrior bats came alive in the fifth. A pair of singles set the Warrior offense up in great position before a deep home run over the left field wall extended their lead to 4.

The Banyans scored their first run of the day in the bottom of the 5th inning. Lily Urbina singled past the shortstop to score Abigail Gregory, bringing the Warrior lead to 3.

The Warriors added another 5 runs in the seventh thanks to a deep grand slam in to deep center field.

The Banyan offense couldn't add another run, dropping game two 9-1.

Ke'Asia Waters went 2 for 4 at the plate with a stolen base.

Lily Urbina recorded one hit and an RBI in three plate appearances.

Jayleigh Totten pitched 6 strong innings, allowing 5 runs with 5 strikeouts an 2 walks.

The Mighty Banyans look to bounce back on Friday, Mar 29 at home against Fort Lauderdale.
