SARASOTA, Fla. – New College of Florida Men's Soccer picks up their first Sun Conference victory in program history with a 1-0 finish vs Ave Maria.
 
The Mighty Banyans picked up their second win of the season, and first Sun Conference win of the season in a 1-0 finish with Ave Maria.
 
The Banyans put up their best offensive performance of the season against the Gyrenes defense, creating 18 goal-scoring opportunities and finishing with an impressive 12 shots on goal.
 
Both teams excelled defensively in the first half, keeping each other to a stalemate.
 
Mathis Leveque had another fantastic game in front of goal, stopping seven Ave Maria shots throughout the match and spearheading the Banyans defense.
 
New College broke the tie in the 78^th minute, when Andrew Scott squeezed the ball past the Gyrenes keeper on a deflection, netting his second goal of the season.
 
The Banyans defense held strong through the final minutes, allowing New College to capture their first Sun Conference win in program history.
 
New College will now look to continue their winning ways in their final non-conference match of the season on September 24^th vs Florida National.
